NEC Awards

RULES FOR THE NEC AWARD IN THE 15th SYMPOSIUM ON COMPUTER ARCHITECTURE AND HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING (X SBAC-PAD'2003)


NEC DO BRASIL will grant the NEC AWARD to the authors of the best paper in the area of Applications in High-Performance Systems submitted to the 15th SYMPOSIUM ON COMPUTER ARCHITECTURE AND HIGH PERFOMANCE COMPUTING (X SBAC-PAD'2003), selected according to the following criteria:

  • all the papers classified by the Program Committee as belonging to the area of Applications in High-Performance Systems will be considered for selection;
  • the papers of the above-mentioned area will be evaluated by three referees and the paper that obtains the largest sum of the final scores of the three referees will be chosen for the award.

The amount in Reais, relative to the award, will be attributed to and in the name of the first author of the chosen paper, who will have to sign the receipt relative to the gross amount of the award.
If the chosen paper has more than one author, the form of division of the award is left to the criterion of the authors.

  • those interested in participating to compete for the NEC AWARD should submit their papers to SBAC-PAD'2003. Submission instructions can be found at http://www.inf.ufrgs.br/~sbacpad2003/submission.html;
  • the evaluation, criterion and the score assignment and the choice of the winner paper are the sole responsibility of the Program Committee of SBAC-PAD'2003, that will obey the above criterion;
  • NEC do Brasil S.A. exempts itself from any responsibility for the choice of the winner paper;
  • this award refers only to the winner paper, not being attributed to NEC do Brasil S.A. or any of its affiliated companies the obligation to contract the winner under any justification, nor in utilizing his/her paper as any type of employment binding, without any future remuneration to be attributed, except the current and one-time award, to the author(s) of the winner paper;
  • the gross amount of the award is R$ 5.000,00 (five thousand reais) (*);
  • the participants of the contest authorize NEC and SBC to make public the competition, the name and qualification of the authors of the winner paper, as well as the award in WRITTEN form, WRITTEN REPORTING form, PHOTOGRAPHIC form, etc.

(*) from the above amount 25% of income tax will be deducted and retained at the source of the payment.
